In 1963 Texas, convicts Robert "Butch" Haynes (Kevin Costner) and Jerry Pugh (Keith Szarabajka) escape from the state penitentiary in Huntsville. Fleeing, the pair stumble into a house where eight-year old Phillip Perry (T.J. Lowther) lives with his devout Jehovah's Witness mother and two sisters.

Given the ubiquitous nature of that "large army of women," rip, I should think that something has made it to print or screen by a so influenced producer of words and cinema -- oh, yeah:
A Perfect World, with Kevin Costner!

Just watched "Nothing in the Dark."
Wow! Gladys Cooper was also in "Night Call," which I recall with chills to this day. The downed telephone line that lay across his . . .
Thanks again.

Thanks, rip, for the link!
I was an avid fan of TTZ, but I don't remember that one. Strange -- I believe it was an old wingback chair I was offered that indirectly inspired me. Or the name Fred . . . wish I could remember as I had just gotten out of bed and began writing away.
I've been having trouble lately with formatting, especially cut/paste.
See you later.

Latest for widespread region in California:
TIMING AND STRENGTH: A SERIES OF IMPULSES WILL BRING PERIODS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS INTERIOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE FIRST WAVE SHOULD ARRIVE FRIDAY, WITH SUCCESSIVE WAVES CONTINUING THROUGH SUNDAY. CURRENT FORECASTS SUGGEST THAT 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE SACRAMENTO AND NORTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEYS. BETWEEN 4 TO 8 INCHES OF LIQUID EQUIVALENT RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER THE MOUNTAINS.

Dear flamegrilled:
How kind you are to attach worth to what has been written. I am very grateful that you have explained why you enjoy these vignettes. With the time that remains, I want to dig deep down, draw up the innermost from heart and mind and, then, put pen to paper.
You've given me renewed incentive to continue.
Yes, we all miss Leolaia very much -- she is a universal treasure.
Love and peace.

Thanks, rip and Nancy, for sharing such intriguing thoughts.
There are so many possibilities regarding what occurs beyond our finite senses. Does any of this unseen and unknown actually proceed beyond our vivid imaginations into an invisible but viable world, a world that awaits us once we've gone from the physical into an as-of-yet undisclosed state?
We speculate while we live our daily lives . . .
Regards.

Hi rip:
Thanks for great questions on your penultimate post -- thinking them over . . .
Ultimate post re: the cage -- it just came to me as a twist ending. Whom is the narrator addressing?
His bird?
His dog?
His mate?
I dunno!

Dream or Nightmare?
by compound complex ini have reached a frontier dreamt about as a child -- the outer reaches of a vast realm under stars.. though an imaginative and inquisitive lad, my forward-looking mind and open heart could never have conjured up this fabulous, this infinite unreality into which i have been catapulted.
what may appear a distortion of my former reality i tentatively accept as a cosmic tableau that threatens both to fascinate and crush my frail, puny body and spirit.
i am unable to comprehend what i gaze upon with frightened, delicious terror.. my recent escape from lunaria was of sheer necessity: my people have been overtaken by a scorpion race of alien malefactors whose intent toward us was not one of beneficient intervention but that of conquest.
